The idyllic orange gardens of the 14th century Franciscan monastery next to the Little Brothers pharmacy.

No city trip is complete without a visit to a pharmacy – and dating back to 1317, The Little Brothers Pharmacy is the oldest chemist in Europe. Go there for herbal pomades using rose and lavender.

Head to cool fashion boutique Maria Store for European designer buys.

Far and away my favourite cold drink spot, is the enticing Bar Buza. Built into the rocky landscape, this palm-fronded paradise has best sea view in town.

Following a fabulous revamp, the Hotel Excelsior has some of the best, most ample terraces, beautiful, designer rooms and Mamma Mia-cinematic, incredible views.

Head to Sesame for amazing cakes and homemade ice cream. Their young chef has been trained at ‘Le Cordon Bleu’ and her talent shines through everything served.

At Clara Stones jewellery workshop, you can see the process of making jewellery from red coral - the only precious material in the area.
