“A lot of it is instinct. With blue, we decided it would be nice to do something bold within the muted palette,” says Jason MacLean of the colour play at work in the new live-work base of Studio MacLean.

The property is in the pretty village of Minchinhampton in the Cotswolds, and the typical stone exterior belies its dynamic, unexpected interior. Exhibited behind a glass window, Jason’s 1962 VW Notchback car offers a rather large clue, though, that this is not your average country home.
