Set in idyllic rural grounds in the Peak District, to the west of Sheffield, this grit-stone live-work estate has a unique history: a former gasworks, is it the industrial hub of the cutlery company David Mellor Design. With a design museum, a shop, a cafe and cutlery factory in the grounds, it is much more than a straightforward house. Today it is home to David's son, Corin (who took over the helm of the business following his father's retirement in 2005), Corin's wife, Helen, and their two sons. Fusing modern design with classic sensibilities, it proves that the apple has not fallen far from the tree.
